The supposed

The supposed “final design/look” of Apple’s first foldable.

Leaked iPhone Ultra/Fold cases confirm a wider book-style foldable design for Apple’s 2026 flagship. However, the leaked images suggest a conflict between the device’s ultra-thin 4.5mm chassis and MagSafe compatibility, as dummy units lack magnets while cases include them. Known iPhone Ultra/Fold features include a 7.8-inch display, A20 Pro chip, and a late 2026 release date.

The first batch of leaked cases for Apple’s highly anticipated foldable, potentially dubbed the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, has surfaced online. While the cases confirm a book-style design similar to the Huawei Pura X Max (launching tomorrow), they also highlight an interesting omission.

Recent dummy units of the foldable iPhone Ultra appeared remarkably slim, reportedly as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded. However, these units notably lacked the visible MagSafe magnet rings. Interestingly, the leaked third-party cases do include integrated MagSafe magnets.

Leaked iPhone Ultra/Fold cases seem to confirm the rumored design.

All in all, this suggests a potential trade-off – Apple may have omitted the internal magnets to achieve the thinness the foldable iPhone needs to feel like a “normal” phone, effectively offloading the MagSafe functionality to the case itself. Alternatively, the feature remains internal, and the dummy units simply lacked final branding.

The most recent iPhone to do away with MagSafe support was the iPhone 16e (2025), but Apple corrected this by bringing back the magnets for this year’s iPhone 17e.
