If you want to catch up on the fantastic Metro series before Metro 2039, you’ll want to pick up the discounted Metro Saga Bundle on Xbox, which includes all three games in the series and their DLC packs at a rock-bottom price.

For those who missed it, 4A Games recently announced that Metro 2039 is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC this winter. The sequel will take us back to the Moscow Metro, where all its various factions, stations, and people have fallen under the control of the Novoreich and its legendary Spartan leader, Hunter. This time around, you’ll be playing as The Stranger (and not the series’ usual protagonist, Artyom), a recluse who is living on the surface and is forced back underground into the tunnels.

If you didn’t understand any of that and want to get in on the Metro fun, fret not! The Metro Saga Bundle features all three games in the stealthy first-person shooter series — Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux, and Metro Exodus — and all DLC packs for just $5.99 / £4.99 / €5.99. This sale ends on April 23.

I can’t stress enough how good a deal this is. Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are two of the most immersive and atmospheric shooters out there and still hold up today. Metro 2033 Redux (a remaster of Metro 2033 featuring updated gunplay and improved visuals) blends linear first-person shooting, survival horror, and stealth, set 20 years after a nuclear war forced survivors into the Moscow Metro. You play as Artyom, who sets out from his home station to find help in tackling a new threat known as the Dark Ones. It’s a gem of a game and is only bettered by its sequel, Metro: Last Light Redux, which continues Artyom’s story through the tunnels during a huge civil war between factions.

Metro Exodus is a little different. You once again play as Artyom, but this time you’re no longer scrabbling around in the dark of the metro tunnels. After learning that the outside world isn’t just an irradiated wasteland, you go out in search of the truth about what happened on the surface and get to explore large, open sandboxes. The switch from linear levels in the previous games to more open environments in Metro Exodus was somewhat divisive, with some fans saying it didn’t feel like a Metro game. It’s quite different from 2033 and Last Light, but I think getting up on the surface with Exodus and breathing in some fresh air was a nice change of pace for the series. With the Metro Saga Bundle, you’ll also get the two Exodus DLC packs, Sam’s Story and The Two Colonels, which are also decent.

If you already own one or two of these games, all three can be purchased individually for less than five bucks each, so bear that in mind if you maybe claimed Metro 2033 Redux when it was free last year.

Are you looking forward to Metro 2039 later this year? Are you a fan of the Metro series? Let us know your thoughts on the first-person shooter down in the comments below!
