We have an update on Overwatch (previously known as Overwatch 2), as Blizzard just confirmed the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. As it turns out, it’ll be out tomorrow.
One of the highlights of Overwatch on Nintendo Switch 2 is support for up to 60 frames per second for both docked and handheld play. Blizzard says the technical upgrades “make this a much stronger way to experience the game”. There’ll also be better visuals and higher fidelity audio.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version comes in time for Season 2 – Reign of Talon: Summit. Here’s what else is in store:
- Start Date: April 14, at 11 am PT
- New Hero – Sierra: Meet the resilient and skilled Sierra, Overwatch’s newest DPS Hero. Armed with a rifle and her combat drone Dorothy, she brings dynamic gameplay and a compelling backstory tied to the Soldier Enhancement Program.
- Operation: Grand Mesa Event: Sierra’s arrival comes with a dedicated three-week event set in the aftermath of her stand against Talon. Rather than just showing you her story, Operation: Grand Mesa lets you earn the journey for a stronger sense of who Sierra is and why the location matters.
- Post-Match Accolades: Celebrate your team’s impact with an updated voting system. Highlight MVPs and showcase sportsmanship, creating more dynamic and personal wrap-ups post-match.
- Antarctica Map Rework: Redesigned for smoother team pushes and engagements, the Antarctica map gains new details, better layout clarity, and improved staging areas.
- New Mythic Skins:
- Mythic Hero Skin: Volted Overdrive Soldier: 76
- Mythic Weapon Skin: Sumi-ichimonji Genji
- Seasonal Extras: Enjoy fresh Sakura Collection designs, an Overwatch x LE SSERAFIM collab with vibrant Legendary skins, and Spring-loaded Premium Battle Pass with cosmetics, Overwatch Coins, and tier skips.
