On the one hand, Nintendo Music is a “free”* bonus to NSO subscribers, so it’s not as though we’re really owed anything. “Free” as a big caveat and with an enormous asterisk, but meant only in that it’s probably not the primary reason why most people subscribe to NSO.
On the other hand, Nintendo is ridiculously stingy with its music releases. At the very, VERY least, surely they could do two releases a week: one “modern” game (e.g. from the past 20 years) on one day, and one “retro” game (e.g. from the 20 years prior to that). But no, instead we get a “special release” of 22 minutes of music taking up a whole week’s worth of releases. As someone who really wants to enjoy Nintendo Music, they really are going out of their way to take drip feeding to the next level. They have a back catalogue of over 40 years’ worth of game soundtracks! Are they worried they’ll run out before the heat death of the universe?
