Xbox is on what some may call a bit of a redemption story lately. With a new CEO at the helm, the company has reallocated resources and appears committed to delivering some of the most requested features fans have been asking for.

That push started last month with updates to customization, which have now rolled out to all users. This month, Xbox Insiders also got a long-awaited update to the platform’s achievement system, something many have felt was overdue.
However, not every Insider seems to be having a smooth experience.

One user in the Xbox Insider program, @1tristan on X (formerly Twitter), reported that the update had bricked their system. The issue was serious enough that they even considered upgrading from an Xbox Series S to an Xbox Series X to fix their issue.
hey @XboxSupport 💚, @xboxinsider bricked my system, can you think upgrading my series s to the series x 🤔😔 #loyal @xbox @asha_shar pic.twitter.com/PrrcHNBEexApril 18, 2026
Normally, complaints like this can fly under the radar. Given the scale of platforms like Xbox, it’s difficult to respond to every single issue. This time, though, it caught the attention of Asha Sharma.
After previously saying “hear you” when stepping into the role, Sharma responded directly to the user, stating, “looking into this.”
It’s not something you typically expect to see from a CEO, and it does stand out. Hopefully, it also means @1tristan’s issue gets resolved.
It’s also just not much, of course, but I did think it was worth highlighting. Since taking on the role as CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma does seem very involved, and I do feel like there’s been a slight shift in how Xbox is being perceived lately.
That said, there’s still a lot of legwork to be done.
There are still difficult conversations happening across the community, especially around exclusives. It’s something I touched on recently when discussing reports that Starfield sold around 140,000 copies on PlayStation 5, if Alinea Analytics are to be believed.
With all that in mind, I think it’s important to point out these smaller moments when they do happen.
So, how are you feeling about Sharma as CEO so far?
Do things like this give you more confidence, or is it just another drop in the bucket that doesn’t really move the needle? Let me know in the comments, and be sure to take part in our poll!
