Compact tablet enthusiasts have likely been awaiting more details regarding the Oppo Pad Mini tablet. As revealed by the company, the 8.8-inch OLED tablet powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC is set to see the light of day later this month.

Compact tablet enthusiasts have been increasing in number, particularly those looking for a splendid gaming experience that is more immersive than a smartphone. Lenovo, RedMagic, Xiaomi, and Apple have offered exciting options in this segment, and Oppo is gearing up to introduce a fresh variant from its own stable.

Oppo Pad Mini: Ultra-thin compact tablet with 8.8-inch 144 Hz OLED display

The Oppo Pad Mini, as revealed by a plethora of leaks in recent weeks, is likely to feature an 8.8-inch display with an aspect ratio of 3:2. The OLED panel will almost certainly boast high refresh-rate capabilities, rumored to be 144 Hz. The compact tablet is expected to weigh in at just 279 grams, boasting an enclosure that is likely to be only 5.39 mm thin.

According to the latest round of teasers shared by Oppo’s official Weibo handle, the Pad Mini compact tablet is set to witness its global launch on the 21st of April, alongside the much-awaited Find X9 Ultra. Pricing, however, has not been revealed as of this writing.

It has also been tipped that the mini tablet will be powered by the potent Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, allowing for impressive CPU and GPU performance. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC found in the recently released Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5, the 8 Gen 5 is around 30% slower. Of course, the Oppo Pad Mini is reportedly a lot thinner than the 7.6-mm thick Legion.

Apple’s current-gen 8.3-inch iPad mini (currently $474 on Amazon) is still powered by the two-generation-old A17 Pro SoC, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is around 30% faster in synthetic GPU benchmarks.

Other notable details of the Oppo Pad Mini that have been leaked include an 8,000-mAh battery with 67-watt fast charging support, a front-facing punch-hole camera, and uniformly thin bezels surrounding the aforementioned 8.8-inch display. More detailed specifications should become available as we get closer to its launch.

Oppo has confirmed the launch date for the upcoming Pad Mini compact tablet.
